House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R, IL) on Alan Keyes' run for the Senate:

"We're getting down to a point where we need a candidate," the Yorkville Republican said. "I've talked to a lot of people from Mike Ditka to (former Chicago Bear) Gary Fencik to (radio talk-show host) Orien Samuelson, and for different reasons, none of that happened. If we have somebody who's willing to come in and invest the time and work to raise funds, we don't have the time at this point to be too choosey."

How's that for a ringing endorsement?

Great blog, Jung. Here in Sierra Vista AZ I watched the debate between the candidates for Senate in Colorado today. I was struck by how amateurish they seemed coming on the heals of an Edwards interview. Edwards is just so smooth and intelligent. Unfortunate timing. They both seemed like dolts. Even the name Coors didn't put any shine on the show.
